Kathy Hensley has spent the last 25 years exploring the nooks and crannies of the San Francisco and Santa Cruz areas. Her home is now in the small community of Aptos, set along the beautiful Pacific Ocean in southern Santa Cruz County. Not only can she help you discover the fun roads and hidden treasures around here, but she is constantly seeking out new places and events to share.
From the first time Kathy Hensley threw her leg over a 1988 Honda Hurricane, she was hooked on motorcycles. She has found that nothing else compares to the sense of freedom on two wheels, the fluid rhythm of the twisties, and the technical challenges of riding crusty single track on a dirt bike.
She has spent many glorious hours on curving ribbons of tarmac and dirt all over California, as well as in the Andes Mountains of South America and the Himalayan Mountains of Asia. Her husband and two kids share her passion for dirt biking, and you can find them out together on weekends or school holidays, testing their limits on rocky trails, desert sands, or tricky hill climbs.
After practicing law for almost 20 years, Kathy branched off on a radically different road four years ago—traveling and creating detailed photo-stories about her adventures. During that time, she started hearing from other people, especially families, who wanted to travel but didn’t know how to budget or plan for the journey of their dreams. In response, she founded Winding Path Travel, where she designs custom travel plans for people who want to travel independently on self-guided adventures.
Kathy believes in the transformative magic of travel. Stretching your comfort zone, trying new things, and experiencing different cultures can change how you think about yourself and your connections to other people around the world.
